This is usually one of the first questions that potential clients ask us (along with how much is it going to cost) and I always give them the same answer “It depends”.

There’s a few factors that will hold up a website project, but before we go into that, let’s answer this question as best we can and then go into the circumstances that will hold up a web design project.

Our average website build time is approx 4-6 weeks.

Technically all websites will ‘work’ on a tablet or mobile – even the ones that have been built badly. The difference between a bad website and a modern responsive website is that websites that have been built with responsive design will be optimised for mobile and tablets and the viewing experience will be exceptionally better.

We like to make sure we get things right the first time, which is why we have a thorough process in place to ensure all our web designs not only look great but meet our clients expectations. We like to make sure we generate great results for our clients every time, so here’s a basic rundown of how our web design process works:-

Initial consultation 
This is where we’ll ask lots of questions about what you want your website to achieve, your target market, the functionality you require and if you require additional services like SEO, support or extra training etc (either in person or via phone/Skype).

Quote/proposal
We’ll provide you with a quote/proposal outlining what we’ll provide and all costs – no hidden extras.

The answer to this question is typically the same as “how long is a piece of string”. It depends. The amount of pages you have on your website and the functionality you require are the key factors behind the price of a website build.

Some websites cost as little as $1500 whilst other sites containing 200+ pages and lots of functionality might be closer to costing in excess of $10,000. The best way to get an idea of how much a website will cost to develop is get in touch with us so we can provide you with a free quote.

The answer to this question is… as many features as you like!

We can build you a simple 5 x page website with some text and images, or you may want a more in-depth website with a member’s area and a document storage facility. Depending on your requirements and budget, we can add many features – here’s an example of what we can include on your website build:-

Website hosting is the space where all the files, folders, images, etc that make up your website are stored. Every website needs to be hosted somewhere and the type of hosting you need will depend on the type of website you have built for your business.

If you’re wondering how much you should be paying for hosting every month or year, this is the article for you. As with many of our FAQs there’s an element of ‘it depends’ in the answer but as a very rough guide, you should be paying somewhere between $100 - $600 a year for a run-of-the-mill business website.

There’s a few things that will impact on the cost of your hosting and that’s the type of hosting you need for your website along with things like bandwidth, storage, email accounts, type of support and other additions. Let’s look at the two main types of hosting available for a majority of websites – Apache hosting and IIS hosting.

If you’re considering having your website built through Marketeam there are a few things we need from your hosting to be able to successfully install and build your website using Joomla or Wordpress.

Yes, of course you can!

If you already have a hosting company that you’re happy to continue using, simply provide us with the login/access details and we can install your content management system onto your existing hosting slot.

If you plan on using your own hosting for your website build, there are a few things that we require in order for the development to be successful – take a look at our article What type of hosting do I need for Marketeam to build my website? for more specific information.

If you don’t already have hosting (or are unhappy with your current provider) we can organise hosting for you – refer to our Hosting packages page for inclusions and pricing.

Most customers want to know if their website will be supported after it’s been built and launched live. The answer is yes – we offer several types of support to help you manage your website moving forward.

Support packages include things like adding new content to your website, updating images or contact details, updating the CMS software when required or providing phone support on how to use Joomla or Wordpress (whichever your site has been built in).

At Marketeam we offer 3 x types of support packages – 3 hours, 6 hours and 10 hours. This covers you for support on your Joomla website for a 12 month period or until your allocated hours have been used up (whichever comes first).

We don’t lock in our clients with contracts, so once your website has been built and paid for in full you have complete access and control.

That means you can go in and make edits and changes yourself, or you can hand over access to another website company and employ them to make changes for you.

Yes, all of our website builds include a training session on how to update and manage your website. Whether we build your website in Joomla or Wordpress it will be easy for you to make basic changes without needing to know any programming or HTML code.

Yes! We build websites in Joomla and Wordpress – they are both very simple, easy-to-use content management systems. If you can use Microsoft Word and know your way around a web browser, you’ll find it easy to update and make changes to your website.

Once we’ve built your website and provided you with training on how to use your content management system (either Joomla or Wordpress), you’ll be in charge of updating and maintaining your own site.

We understand that sometimes you may not have the time or resources to update your website – that’s why we have Support Packages available for purchase.

Yes! Whether we build your website in Joomla or Wordpress, there are literally thousands of tutorial videos available on YouTube.

A content management system is a way of easily and logically managing the content on your website. Content management systems split websites into different sections so they can be managed individually. For example, the template, menu items, content and footers of websites were split so you could easily make changes to just menu items without having to update every page on your website.

The short answer to this question is yes, you will be able to manage your website if you have a CMS however there is a ‘it depends’ element to the answer. Most content management systems will enable you to manage pretty much everything you will need to run your website however, the areas that you can manage (templating, custom styling, modules, widgets, etc) will be determined by two things – the CMS your website is built with and your level of access.

Joomla is an open source content management system (CMS) that allows users to create and manage beautifully designed, dynamic and responsive websites. We recommend the Joomla content management systems to our clients as the software is easy to use, simple to manage, secure, stable and reliable.

Joomla is used all over the world for everything from simple landing pages to complex corporate websites and will give you the ability to update and maintain your own website quickly and easily. Whether it’s a 5 page website or a 5,000 page monster – Joomla is expandable and will suit your requirements.

Wordpress is an open source CMS (content management system) that anyone can install and use for free. It’s a very popular system as it usually requires little coding experience to edit and make changes to your website. Simple to use, secure and reliable – it’s been used to build hundreds of thousands of websites worldwide.

Whether you want to build a 5 page website or a 500 page website, Wordpress can handle most requirements.

A domain name is the address that your website will be known by. For example, our domain name is www.marketeam.com.au. A domain name is an incredibly important part of your overall business as it’s how people will remember and get to your website (as well as links on other websites and via search engines like Google).

Domain names are one of those interesting beasts in the web design world. You can spend a lot of time trying to figure out how they work and there are multiple ways to get to the same solution. We’ve been building websites for over 15 years and there’s still elements about domains that come along and surprise us!

We’re going to do our best to explain in an easy-to-understand way exactly how domain names work. So strap yourself in.

You can register a domain name through any registrar such as NetRegistry, GoDaddy or even Google. You’ll need to pay a registration fee (usually annually but sometimes every 2 years) to secure your domain registration. This gives you the right to the domain name for that period.

If you’ve found that indeed your domain name has lapsed – don’t fret, particularly if you have a .com.au as many domain registrars will give you a 30 day grace period to re-register your domain name.

The easiest way to make sure your domain name doesn’t expire is always up, running and paid for is to make sure your contact details at your domain registrar is up to date.
